# Data asymmetry and your trading journal

Clone buyer-channel shape: [gfil86/4502459 Why 87% of Forex Traders Lose Money — The Data Asymmetry Problem](https://dev.to/gfil86/why-87-of-forex-traders-lose-money-the-data-asymmetry-problem-4ah8).

## The asymmetry

Institutions see order flow in real time. Retail traders often see delayed REST polling data — 500ms–3s behind during fast markets.

During NFP, a REST platform might give ~30 price updates in the first minute. A WebSocket terminal gives thousands. That gap is not psychology — it is **data latency**.

## What a journal fixes

You cannot buy institutional feed on a $500 account. You **can** log every live trade and measure:

- Win rate and profit factor **after** slippage and delayed fills
- Which setups still work when your feed lags
- Monthly P&L vs what your back-test promised

[jordisquare's Gumroad journal](https://jordisquare.gumroad.com/l/tradingjournal) ($48 · 6 sales · creator 4.9/35 reviews) tracks calendar P&L, reflections, and summaries. Our clone ships CSV + CLI at EUR 9.

## Quick check

```bash
python3 trading_journal_tracker.py trades-sample.csv
```
